Base rates held at 4% by Bank of England

The Bank of England announced base rates are being held at 4%

The Bank of England announces that interest rates are being held at 4%, with the previous cut occurring in August, from 4.25% to 4%.

The Bank of England have cut interest rates five time since August 2024.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), the group of economists responsible for setting the rates, voted in favour of keeping interest rates at their current level.

Over the past 5 years, interest rates peaked at 5.25%.

With interest rates currently sat at 4%, this figure will remain at the lowest level since February 2023.
