It has been announced that the Plug-in Van Grant scheme has been given an extension, with the scheme now running to April 2026.
The financial support for electric vans remains the same, with up to £2,500 being offered to van of 2.5 tonnes and under, and for electric vans weighing up to 4.25 tonnes, grants of up to £5,000 are offered.
Since the introduction of the scheme in 2012, the Department for Transport has said it has contributed to more than 80,000 sales of electric vans.
Furthermore, extensions have been put in place for taxi drivers, with up to £4,000 of financial support offered when purchasing an electric black cab.
As well as this, motorcyclists will also see an extension in the grant of £500 when purchasing an electric motorbike.
The extension of this grants further reinforces the aims of switching to electric or zero emission vehicles before 2035.
This also aligns with the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV), which as of 2025, requires 28% of new vehicles sold by manufacturers to be electric or zero emissions.
