What is machinery finance

Machinery finance is a way of obtaining specialist machinery assets for your business, whilst also spreading the cost of the asset out, meaning cash flow can be retained and business capital can be preserved.

Two financing options for machinery finance are hire purchase and finance leasing, allowing your business to acquire your desired asset. Asset refinancing is another financial solution that is ideal for machinery finance if you have valuable assets on your balance sheet.

Our manufacturing division are prepared to help you with any needs manufacturing businesses may have across the UK.

Types of manufacturing finance available

Hire purchase: At the start of the agreement, you’ll make an initial deposit, after this, a series of fixed monthly payments will be made over the duration specified, which typically lasts up to five years. Once all payments are completed, your business will fully own the asset.

Finance leasing: A finance lease is a great option if your business doesn't require ownership of the asset. Through finance leasing, you rent the machinery from the lender and make regular fixed payments throughout the lease duration, without the intention of owning the machinery.

Asset refinancing: Using the equity in an existing asset can be an ideal way to finance machinery for your business. With refinancing, the asset is sold to a lender, and your business then rents it back under the agreed terms. This enables you to unlock the capital in your assets whilst continuing to use the asset.

How does machinery finance work?

Machinery finance works by paying an initial deposit, and once that is done, with the outstanding amount being paid through monthly instalments for the duration of the term. Whilst paying for the asset, you are not currently the owner, however the machinery can be used for business purposes. Financing machinery also allows you to state the deposit amount and how long you would like to pay the asset off over.

Is machinery finance right for your business?

Purchasing machinery equipment for business purposes upfront may not be financially accessible for your business. By financing the machinery, this allows your business to acquire and use the desired asset whilst paying for it in a financially manageable manner.

With a fixed repayment schedule and the flexibility that comes with financing, the payments for the machinery can be easily planned, meaning budgeting for the machinery can be done with the rest of your financial responsibilities.
