An England Golf Championship venue required funding for new grounds care equipment

An England Golf Championship venue approached MAF Finance Group (MAF) to consult with them on their ambitions for the 2025 season.

The club had been out of a long-term deal with a supplier for around a year and were still considering their options. Their equipment needed replacing to ensure they could continue to present the course in the best possible light and retain the prestigious England Golf Championship venue status. The club wanted to acquire equipment from various manufacturers to ensure that they had best in class grounds care equipment across their whole fleet.

How MAF Finance Group supported the client

During the Christmas break, 2 members of MAF’s specialist golf club and grounds care finance team met with the committee and General Manager.

Taking a holistic approach, MAF worked collaboratively alongside the committee to undertake a full review, from everything to including the club’s financial performance, legal structure, strategic objectives, and capital expenditure plans.

Once the review had taken place, MAF worked alongside the committee to help develop their capital expenditure plans to replace key pieces of equipment, including utility vehicles, greens mowers, fairway mowers, tractors, spikes, and rakes.

MAF took away the whole administrative burden for the club, liaising with suppliers on delivery lead times, invoicing, and payment terms. MAF even worked with the club’s accountants to provide copies of the invoice and finance agreement to ensure that the clubs accounts continued to be compliant with accounting standards.

By working with a wide panel of High Street lenders funders and challenger banks, MAF were able to arrange credit lines for the club, giving them the confidence and flexibility to approach their suppliers for whichever equipment they deemed suitable.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts from all parties, the club is now in a much better position. The greens team now have access to the latest technology to help them deliver an England Golf Championship venue, the administrative duties have been completed quickly, and the club has a suitable and affordable funding line.
