Renewable energy in the UK has doubled in the last decade

Over the past decade, non-renewable energy in the UK has reduced dramatically, with the use of renewable energy doubling over the last 10 years, with 2024 reporting the cleanest energy figures in the UK to date.

From 2014 to 2024, carbon dioxide produced from generating electricity has seen a sizable decrease, from 419 grams per kilowatt hour to 124 grams.

The statistics support the energy production trend in the United Kingdom, with a reported 29% of the Uk's power stemming from non-renewable energy sources.

Renewable energy sources including biomass, wind and solar power currently generate 45% of the electricity in the UK, with nuclear power contributing 58% of the total power production across the country.

The greatest single source of electricity in 2024 was gas at 28%, with wind coming in second with 26%.
